In previous years choral scholars have performed together singing music from a variety of musical styles from Bach to Bacharach. The scholars of 2004-2005 called themselves StopGap and have sung on HMS Victory, The Royal Naval Club, for the launch of a P&O cruise liner, for Women's Institute Coffee Mornings and at concerts and services in the cathedral.

The choir has travelled extensively. They have performed in Estonia, Belgium, Holland, Normandy, Sweden as well as at a variety of locations within the UK. They played an important role in 2004’s 60th Anniversary of D-Day commemorations in France. The trip saw two BBC Radio broadcasts, a Concert in Caen with the London Mozart Players and appearing at the International Service of Remembrance at Bayeux in the presence of HM The Queen, President Chirac and Tony Blair. They have been involved in Nelson 200 and SeaBritain 2005 by singing at the International Drumhead Service in Portsmouth and at commemorations in Cadiz around Trafalgar Day 2005. In the Nelson theme, the choir previously made a recording of the reconstruction of Admiral Lord Nelson’s Funeral Service.

Other recordings include ‘I look from afar’, a selection of Advent and Christmas carols releases in 2001. They have recently released ‘Portsmouth Remembers’ - a re-release of a 1984 LP recording with extra tracks from the current choir.

The choir make frequent broadcasts on Radio and TV. Last year two BBC Songs of Praise services came from Portsmouth Cathedral. They have also appeared on BBC Radio 3 & 4 for a Sunday morning broadcast as well as a Wednesday afternoon Choral Evensong.
